Atako Taşımacılık Denizcilik A.Ş. started its commercial activities in 1965 as a chemical fertilizer broker. While he was operating as the representative of AT-ASLAN, BASF's branch in Turkey, he entered the maritime industry by assuming the agency role of ships rented by BASF.
Gaining experience in this field, Atako started citrus fruit transportation and in 1972, he became the agent of the Danish company MERCANDIA, and in 1975, he became the agent of the former East German Company traditional cargo line DEUTSCHE SEEREEDEREI ROSTOCK, which was later named DSR SENATOR LINES. Atako opened its branches in Istanbul in 1987 and started acting as an agency for CHO YANG LINES in 1991, then opened a branch in Izmir in 1994. In 1995, he became the agency of SAFMARINE.
Based on its experience in this sector, Atako has been representing METZ CONTAINER LINE (MCL) since 1990 and H. STINNES LINES since 1999. In addition, in 2006, it became the Turkish agency for the ships of UFS and MCL FEEDERS, one of the largest "Feeder Operators" in the Mediterranean region, under the company FSA (Feeder Shipping Agencies).
Atako's goal is to always be ahead in terms of trends in the transportation and logistics industry. Drawing strength from its experience and experience in cargo and container transportation, Atako followed the changes in the profile of the Turkish market, diversified its activities and began to expand in the following areas: Storage services, container terminal facilities, gas stations, operational vehicle rental, air conditioning distributorship, shipyard management.
The company, which started operational vehicle rental business under the name ATAKO DESTEK on May 30, 2000, has become a leading name in the operational vehicle rental market. The aim of Atako Destek is to purchase the desired vehicles, based on the demands of its customers, and to rent them to customers according to a special payment plan. Atako Destek's customer portfolio consists of multinational companies operating in Turkey.
Atako decided to increase its gas station operations in 2002. The new formation operates under the name ATAKO-KÜRK and makes its investments in strategic regions of Mersin.
Atako is also the long-term contractor of SHELL GAS, under the name ATAKO ROTA, and provides daily LPG distribution to gas stations and customers' facilities with its own LPG tankers.
Atako has been the general agency of HMM Co., LTD in Turkey since October 2007. Weekly direct container service is offered between HMM Istanbul / Izmit / Izmir / Mersin and Far East ports.
In addition, ATAKO, which has been producing countless solutions to its customers in the maritime and transportation sector in our country since 1965, became the Turkey general agency of NMT Shipping, one of the world's leading "Roll on/Roll off" logistics solution providers, until 01.042023. It provides Ro/Ro services from Turkey's important ports such as Derince, Izmir, Gemlik, Mersin to almost all ports in the world.
